in 1846 Sewing Machine is patent by Elias Howe. Elias Howe was born in 9 July 1819 and died in 3 October 1867.  He came from Spencer, Massachusetts.  He work in textile factory and then for master mechanic. He was not first person that invented the sewing machine but he was first person that had functional sewing machine. His sewing machine design is lockstitch. This design is look like below :

Howe must defend his patent in 1854, because Isaac Singer had perfected his machine and was selling it with the same lockstitch that Howe had invented. He won and earned his royalty. Howe died in Greenwood Cemetry, Brooklyn, New York.
